Gulf来日特別インタビュー／Special Interview with Gulf Kanawut（日本語＆English）Onitsuka Tiger
2日間に渡って開催された日本発のファッションブランド Onitsuka Tiger（オニツカタイガー
）のイベントのために来日したGulf
10月27日（木）に東京で開催されたのは、2023年1月発売のサボテン由来の新素材を使用したシューズ【メキシコ66カクトフル（MEXICO 66™ CACTFUL™）のPRイベント。アジアからもたくさんのセレブリティが招待されており、タイからはGulf、日本からは岩橋玄樹さんなどが参加し、華やかなイベントとなった。
さらに翌日の28日（金）には、渋谷のオニツカタイガー渋谷２（渋谷区神南1丁目21-3 渋谷モディ公園通り沿い1F/2F）でストアイベントが開催
アニメ『うる星やつら』とのスペシャルコラボレーションを記念して行われた今回のイベント名は【Onitsuka Tiger×うる星やつら Special Collaboration Launch Party】。 同じ日本発祥のルーツを持ちカルチャーを築き上げてきたOnitsuka Tigerと『うる星やつら』が織りなす、ファッションとアニメの融合。 店の入り口にあるシューズウォールに巨大3Dホログラムサイネージが投影、カラフルなドリンク、さらに店舗の２階にはDJブースが設置され、まさに近未来の渋谷”ネオ渋谷”をイメージしたイベントとなった。
２日間のイベントを経て、コラボレーション商品の履き心地から今回の滞在までの感想を語ってくれたGulf
―まず、Onitsuka Tigerについて聞かせてください。
日本発祥のブランドですが、タイを含む数多くのアジアの国でも人気で、海外の写真を見ても、とても現地の人から愛されているのがよくわかります。どのような点が、タイでも人気を誇っている理由だと思いますか？
Gulf： そうですね、タイでもとても人気があります。まず、とても覚えやすいビジュアルです。目に入ってくるというか、目を引く商品がとても多いと感じています。さらに、Onitsuka Tigerというロゴを全面に使用した商品も多く、文字からもこのブランドのことをみんな覚えていると思います。

Gulf： 今日、僕が履いているこの黄色いスニーカーです。「うる星やつら」とのスペシャルコラボレーションから生まれた商品で、Onitsuka Tigerの名前にも入っている「TIGER」と、アニメに出てくるキャラクターの「虎」柄が合わさった、とてもOnitsuka Tigerらしいものです。とても気に入っています。

―先ほど少し話に出たアニメ「うる星やつら」についても聞かせてください。
年齢的に日本で最初に話題になった時期のことがわからないと思うので、この作品のことを知らなくても無理はないと思うのですが？
Gulf： 事前にこの作品を見て、少し勉強してから日本に来ました。いい意味で少し騒がしく、でもかわいくてセクシーで楽しそうな作品という印象でした。
―こちらの「うる星やつら」×Onitsuka Tigerのスペシャルコラボレーションのポスタービジュアルのイラストを見たとき、どんな印象を受けましたか？
Gulf： （英語で）とてもとてもとてもセクシーだと思いました（笑）。見れば見るほどセクシー。 （ラムちゃんを指さしながら）彼女はきっときちんと”自分“というものを持っていて、自信があると感じました。セクシーだけど、表情などはとてもキュートです。
（日本語で）かわいい。うん、（ふたたび日本語で）カワイイ。
―コラボレーション製品の履き心地はいかがですか？履いていて楽ですか？
Gulf： とてもおすすめです。インパクトのある印象的な柄がとても"Onitsuka Tiger” らしいと思います。履いた感じもとても楽なんです。

Gulf： はい、沢山の人とお会いして話をする機会に恵まれました。日本からのゲストだと、特にGenkiさん（岩橋玄樹さん）ですよね。昨日のイベントの時に、彼の方から声をかけてくれて、とてもうれしかったです。とても礼儀正しい人だと思いました。
―どんな方でしたか？

Gulf： 普段はとても暑い国にいるので、新鮮です。寒いのは好きなので、苦ではないです。むしろ好きです。これからも、日本の四季をもっと感じたいので、次は真冬を味わってみたいです。
―ご両親やお姉さんを日本に連れてくる機会があったら、どこに連れて行ってあげたいですか？
Gulf： 9月の来日の時に富士山を見に行ったのですが、残念ながらあまり天候が良くなく、綺麗な景色を見ることができなかったので、是非家族と一緒にきれいな富士山を見てみたいです。雪が山頂にかかって白くなっているところを見たいです。
―では、これが最後の質問となります。
2度の来日が短期間の間にありましたが、３度目の来日はありますか？
Gulf： あると思います！ 機会を作ってまた来たいと思っていますので、楽しみにしていてください。

Special Interview with Gulf Kanawut
Gulf visited Japan for the event of "Onitsuka Tiger", a Japanese fashion bland.
On October 27 (Thu.), a PR event was held in Tokyo to promote MEXICO 66™ CACTFUL™, shoes made of a new cactus-derived material that will go on sale in January 2023.
On the following day, Friday the 28th, a store event will be held at Onitsuka Tiger Shibuya 2 (1-21-3 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku, Shibuya MODI, Park Avenue, 1F/2F). Onitsuka Tiger x Urusei Yatsura Special Collaboration Launch Party. Onitsuka Tiger and Urusei Yatsura, both of which share the same Japanese roots and have built up a culture, interweave to create a fusion of fashion and anime. A huge 3D hologram signage was projected on the shoe wall at the entrance of the store, and a DJ booth was set up on the second floor of the store, creating the image of a "Neo Shibuya" Shibuya of the near future.
-First of all, tell us about Onitsuka Tiger.
The brand originated in Japan, but it is also popular in many Asian countries, including Thailand, and I can see from the photos taken overseas that it is very much loved by the locals. What do you think is the reason for its popularity in Thailand?
Gulf: Yes, it is very popular in Thailand. First of all, it is a very easy-to-remember visual. I feel that there are so many products that catch the eye, or rather, catch the attention. In addition, there are many products that use the Onitsuka Tiger logo all over them, and I think everyone remembers the brand from the letters as well.
-Onitsuka Tiger has a wide variety of products, from sandals to sneakers, which is your favorite?
Gulf: These sneakers I am wearing today. They are from a special collaboration with "Urusei Yatsura," and are very Onitsuka Tiger-like, combining the "TIGER" in the Onitsuka Tiger name with the "tiger" pattern of the character in the anime. I like it very much.
-If you had to pick one product to recommend to your Japanese fans, what would it be?
Gulf: The ones I'm wearing right now are great, but I would recommend the "MEXICO 66™ CACTFUL™" the one I saw yesterday. They are very interesting and durable, made from Mexican cactus. I recommend this to my fans. (*Scheduled to be released in January 2023)
-Please tell us about the anime "Urusei Yatsura" that you mentioned earlier.
Since you are still young, it is not unreasonable to assume that you did not know about this animation.
Gulf： I saw footage film and studied it a little before coming to Japan. I got the impression that this animation was a bit noisy in a good way, but cute, sexy and fun.
-The poster visual for the special collaboration between "Urusei Yatsura" and Onitsuka Tiger, what was your impression of the illustration?
Gulf: (In English) I thought it was very, very, very sexy (laughs). (Pointing to Ram-chan) I felt that she must have her own "self" and be confident. She is sexy, but her facial expressions are very cute.
(In Japanese) Kawaii. Yes, (again in Japanese) Kawaii.
-How do you feel about the comfort of the collaboration products? Are they comfortable to wear?
Gulf: I highly recommend them. The striking and impactful pattern is very Onitsuka "Tiger". I think the striking and impactful pattern is very Onitsuka "Tiger". They are also very comfortable to wear.
- Yesterday, MOMO from TWICE attended the event, and today we had guests Tamara Dai and Glenn Yong from Singapore. They seemed to be having a good time conversing with you and taking pictures, how do you feel about them?
Gulf: Yes, I had the opportunity to meet and talk with many people. For guests from Japan was Genki-san (Genki IWAHASHI). He approached me at yesterday's event, which made me very happy. I thought he was very polite.
-What was he like?
Gulf: He was easy to talk to. Above all, he was a nice and caring person.
-Did you know that he has been a member of an idol group and has built up his position in the industry?
Gulf: Yes. I know that he was a member of “King&Prince”.
-Oh, you know “King&Prince”.
Gulf: Yes, I know them (smiling). They are very famous.
-Let me ask you some questions about Japan
The last time you came to Japan was in September, but it was still summer and hot, but this time it is late October. How do you feel now that you have experienced two of Japan's four seasons, "summer" and "autumn"?
Gulf: It is a little strange to have different seasons when not much time has passed since my last visit to Japan.
-Is autumn cold for you, Gulf? Is it comfortable?
Gulf: It is refreshing because I am usually in a very hot country. I like cold, so it is not hard for me. I rather like it. I would like to experience more of the four seasons in Japan, so next time I would like to feel the season of midwinter.
-If you had a chance to bring your parents and sister to Japan, where would you like to take them?
Gulf: Mt.Fuji. Because when I came to Japan in September, unfortunately the weather was not so good and I could not see beautiful Mt.Fuji, so I would love to see it. I would like to see the snow covered and white on the top of the mountain.
-This is the last question.
You have visited Japan twice in a short period of time. Will there be a third visit?
Gulf: I think there will be! I would like to make an opportunity to come back, so please look forward to it.
